It's been a full day and I've managed to fit quite a bit of training in and amongst children on their holidays. I was up and out early this morning on my bike. Initially it felt a bit better than the last few mornings because it didn't feel so cold. However, the weather had definitely changed and it was grey and very, very damp. By the end of my ride the damp had got to me and several of my extremities were extremely cold. Still, I think I did a pretty good work out. I was on for a hill session, working hard up the hills, keeping it steady on the flats and allowing myself to coast on the downhills. Finding hills in West Yorkshire is never a problem, so discovering ones to drive my legs up was easy enough. I really pushed up the hills, my legs were rather tired by the end of it all. I knew I'd put in a good level of effort.
Then, this evening, I was at the tri club. Morgan had us doing loads of drills, high knees, lunges etc., interspersed with race pace laps of the track. I tried hard and was completing race pace laps in 2:11 instead of 2:18 and feeling like I'd put in much the same amount of effort. I genuinely feel I've made some progress recently. I certainly hopw so. April was running with the juniors and looked to be trying hard. We both got absolutely soaked. it tipped it down about half way through the training session, we were literally dripping. Still, I enjoyed myself and she was adamant that she had done too. Thank goodness.
