Active Day

Today has been a good day or getting myself moving, which, in the current circumstances, is something a of a miracle.  I'm not doing very well at getting things done - holding together the house stuff, the kid stuff, the work stuff, but time for my training appears to have disappeared.  So, today has been a pleasant change.

I attended the tri club swimming session again, I found it hard work, mostly because I've eaten really badly this week.  I can always feel that when I try to do anything energetic, it makes me feel heavy and I felt like I was dragging quite some weight through the water.  However, I stuck with it and still managed to hold my own.  I enjoyed it in a slightly masochistic kind of a way!

I came across a new drill this time to, we were doing something called board tap which was new to me.  I don't think I was getting it quite right, I was supposed to be tapping a board held between my legs, then my armpit before extending my arm in front of me.  Interesting!  There was also quite a lot of speed work this time with both race pace sets and sprint lengths - not the best for those of us feeling rather wallowy!  But I did it and felt good about having done so.  I'll certainly be keeping going.

Then, later on we all went for a family cycle ride.  We went around the same route as we've done the last few times, it was rather harder going this time due to the amount of fallen leaves and pine needles that needed to be ploughed through.  It was a beautiful day, really bright and not too cold.  In fact, it was a joy to be out there.
