Two Good Sessions

Links

Feeling good right now as I've worked well in two separate sessions today.  I swam this afternoon and ran this evening and feel chirpy about the results of both.  I do think things are going in the right direction right now - yipee!

I spent about an hour and a half in the pool this afternoon, completing 1380m and still feeling strong and like I could happily continue by the end of it.  I did an awful lot of drills and they seem to be getting better too, I can keep them up for longer and maintain better speed while doing so.  I did: 400m catch-ups; followed by 100m of normal swimming; before a 760m time trial (due to the 20m pool) which took me about 15 and a half minutes, not so bad, needs to get quicker, but not bad for this stage in the game; then 300m of Non-Preferred Side Breathing, that's definitely coming on, I hardly used to be able to get anywhere if I tried breathing to the right; then lots of short drills concentrating on keeping good technique and rounded off with 300m alternating between normal stroke and bilateral breathing, I still find that hard but I used to feel about ready to pass out by the second set, not any more.  So I clambered out of the pool feeling pretty satisfied with my efforts.

I have April to thank for the success of this evening's session.  I may well have chickened out of going to the tri-club because the weather was so foul, but I couldn't disappoint her.  She was really keen to go, especially as we had to miss last weeek with Daniel being away.  So I went, much as I wanted to hide indoors.  We both must be nutty, it was windy and cold and decidedly wet too, on and off.  She and I ran 3 laps of the track together before we began to avoid freezing while we waited.  Then she went of to do time trials and I was on race pace sets, I did 4 laps at race pace as well as a good few other laps and some drills.  I worked hard, found myself enjoying it despite the conditions and was very glad that I'd gone.  So, as I said, thank you to April for making me get myself out there!
