The best inspiration is not to outdo others, but to outdo ourselves

I was down at Pugneys again this morning for the open water swimming session.  Thankfully my wetsuit felt like it was back to normal after the suncream episode.  I managed to get it on with only the usual level of battle and it felt fine when I was swimming in it - like it was in the right place and not hindering my progress.  I enjoyed my swim, I do basically enjoy open water swimming apart from the looking at it before you get in and the initial shock of cold as the water fills your suit.  Once I'm in and going I like the fact that you can find a rhythm and maintain it.  I love just being able to swim, no stopping and starting and my sighting is pretty much okay these days, so I mostly go where I want to.  I did about 1600m, fought a few slapping waves (just little ones) and appreciated it when the sun was out, it was zooming in and out of cloud the whole time.
