Out in the Sun

I wanted to go to the club open water swimming session today to see how I got on with my wetsuit after last weekend's unfortunate goings on. I still didn't feel that it was sliding into position properly, but it did get nearer to being right than it did for my race.  I'm hoping that whatever residual suncream (at least I assume that's the reason) was in the suit will gradually wear away, so I need to give it a good chance to do so before my next race, which is only a couple of weeks away.

Anyway, the weather was plesant, the sun was shining, to extent that I felt far too warm in my suit and was happy to get into the lake to cool down a bit.  My swim went fine, I did four laps of the 400m loop and felt pretty much okay whilst doing it.  There was definitely still some pull around my right shoulder, but it was better, so there's hope.  I enjoyed the swim, I do basically like open water swimming these days.  It wasn't busy this morning as a lot of people are away at the club relays this weekend.  I hope they're doing well.

I stubbed my toe on the ledge getting out of the lake, you'd think I'd know it was there by now!  I felt really light headed and wierd when I got out, I wish I knew why that happened from time to time.  However, I simply took my time about peeling the wetsuit off and soon felt more like my normal self again.  I made a quick trip to the car to dump the suit and collect my new toy before setting off to run around the lake.  And my new toy?  Daniel bought me an ipood nano!  This was my first outing with it and I attched it to my upper arm, got it going, headphones attached and off I went.  I'm hoping that listening to m usic might reignite some enthusiasm for running.

I just went once around the lake.  The ipod cut out a few times, maybe because the movement was moving the headphone connection slightly, I'll try and get it in tighter next time.  The headphones were great, another good thing purchased for next to nothing from Aldi.  They felt secure, the sound was good, I was very pleased with them.  This bodes well for future runs.
