Beginners' Guide to Triathlon

Claire PenderyPlanning your first triathlon?  A lot of people make mad New Year's resolutions to complete a triathlon and then wonder what on earth they've said,  I've completed quite a lot of them now, including races in different locations and of different types.  I don't have all the answers, but I might just have some of them.  I'll be publishing a series of articles which will hopefully help a nervous first timer as they head towards their inital race.  The topics I'll be covering are as follows:

  1. Why Tri - 8 Good Reasons to Race

  2. Choosing Your First Race

  3. The Cost of Races

  4. The Right Kit, Without Breaking the Bank

  5. Basic Training

  6. The Swim

  7. The Bike

  8. The Run

  9. Transition - The Fourth Discipline

  10. Nutrition - Eat Well, Race Well

  11. Recovery - The Morning After the Race Before

I've been taking part in triathlons since 2001, so I've learned a fair amount along the way.  Hopefully I can save you from making some of the mistakes that I made.

Most importantly, if you put your mind to it, you can do it.  So get out there and tri!
